In Finland, there is a special piece of pastry for all kinds of occasions and holidays. Christmas has its own treat, so do Easter and: Shrove Tuesday (laskiainen, in Finnish). In the week around laskiainen, people bake the traditional laskiaispullat, sweet buns filled with whipped cream and strawberry jam, and enjoy them together with their families, their colleagues at work or in cafés. Sounds great and looks even better? Don’t you worry! We translated a recipe from Valio and modified a bit. Now you can try it yourself :) Enjoy!
50 g yeast
5 dl milk
2 dl sugar or coconut palm sugar
1 ½ tsp salt
1 tbs cardamom
14 - 16 dl organic wheat flour
150-200 g butter
Sugar or powdered sugar
2 dl whipped cream or soy cream
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla sugar
1 tbsp. strawberry jam
